Established in 1964, Southeast Arkansas Behavioral Healthcare System, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit community mental health center serving the Arkansas counties of Arkansas, Cleveland, Grant, Jefferson, and Lincoln for a combined population of 142,000 people. The organization is operated by a board of directors representing each of the five counties in our service area.

SABHS's Mission and Vision Statement

The mission of the Southeast Arkansas Behavioral Healthcare System, Inc. is to create an environment where the staff is conscientious, professional, and responsive to the behavioral health needs of the citizens of the service area. This will be done in a manner which is client oriented, accessible, affordable, and quality driven.

The Agency is dedicated to the excellence, accountability, and advocacy for those citizens most in need of Agency services. Services will be provided when and where needed.

We will strive to build partnerships with all segments of the community--businesses, schools, the medical community, and neighborhood groups-in order to enhance public awareness and community problem solving in behavioral healthcare.

SABHS is funded by federal block grants, state per capita funds, the United Way, Medicaid, Medicare, insurance, Title XX contracts, private donations, and individual collections.

SABHS is certified by CARF, the Commission on Acreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

SABHS is a member of the Mental Health Council of Arkansas, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the overall health and well-being of the citizens and communities of Arkansas.
